TWO HOUR ROLL CHALLENGE
The Two Hour Roll Challenge is a film photography project built around one simple premise: tell a complete story using a single roll of film within two hours.
Each challenge is centered around a real-world event, location, or theme and follows the same constraints, one roll of film, one shared challenge, and a strict two-hour shooting window. The limitations encourage photographers to commit to their decisions, work intentionally, and create a cohesive body of work rather than simply documenting everything around them.
For select challenges, one or two photographers are invited to participate alongside the curator. The Two Hour Roll Challenge provides the film, professional development, and high-resolution scans, removing some of the cost of shooting film while encouraging photographers to create, share their work, and support one another.
Featured work is published on @TwoHourRoll, where selected photographs are accompanied by constructive critiques discussing composition, storytelling, timing, and the visual decisions that make each image successful. The project exists to celebrate film photography, highlight photographers, and build a community through thoughtful image-making.
